BDDC Health & Welfare Issues

On our health & welfare pages you will find articles & information that relates to both the Dobermann specifically and the canine species in general.

Overall the Dobermann is a very healthy breed of dog and has an average lifespan of around 10 years.

Although like every other breed there are certain health problems that can occur in Dobermanns, the information should give you a guideline of some of the health issues Dobermanns could suffer with.

However, please don’t let this put you off owning a Dobermann just check the background of the dog and look at what tests the breeder has carried out.

"Designer Dogs"
Everyone wants a "special" dog but please do not be swayed by flash advertising campaigns being run by unscrupulous puppy farmers offering 'rare' (and priced accordingly) pink or white Dobermanns.  They really are rare for a reason!  To see the leaflet & explanations in full, please click on the "Pink/White Dobermanns" page within health.
